Looks like it might make landfall right where Betsy did

At least the 10pm update shows zero strengthening!

On the current track NOLA is going to get worse than Zeta with these winds and rain.

Is this much different than Zeta? Didn’t that come through the NOLA area as a strong CAT 2 low CAT 3? This one may be slightly stronger?
zeta was a direct hit cat 3

The last plane was picking up 115kt winds at 500 meters altitude, and that was before the eye got completely wrapped. If NHC is predicting 130 mph winds at landfall I am thinking it's at least plausible.

Zeta blew through quick. This gonna linger

It’s clearly stronger.

Zeta was a low-end Cat 3. This looks to be a high-end 3 or low-end 4. Zeta also came in from a different angle that didn’t pile so much water in to Lake Pontchartrain.

I think a lot of people don't really realize how fricking intense hurricane force winds are. Even cat 1 sustained winds are intense as hell. And if it's slow moving....
Yea a gust or two of hurricane level winds isn't anything to fuss about. 3+ hours straight of hurricane winds? That's a whole different animal.
Add in the rain and the back end lingering bands this thing has and we’re in for one hell of an evening tomorrow.

No chance I’m sleeping now. I evac’d but I am fretting like a motherfricker now.

The biggest issue with this over zeta is that it’s going to hang around 3x’s as long

Right up Bayou Lafourche. If the hurricane force winds extend 40 miles from center, that means Jefferson and some of Orleans will be in hurricane force winds.

Hope all of you beat this.
This is straight up Katrina 2.0
She's gonna blow up overnight
My prayers are with all of you.

Chicken can I be a mod on Pels Talk for a day since I’m in Kenner. This is my potential dying wish

don’t think it moved much east at all. The edge of the cone on the western side is closer but the track didn’t appear to change
The H is now right on Lake P. It definitely moved East.
