These totals are directly related to how Ida is approaching landfall and the turn it will take after landfall. The banding will train over areas well after the center has passed.

It's literally the NWS New Orleans.

NWS seems to think ALL of SE LA is gonna get fricked.
Definitely. Where the Eastern eyewall hits is a major concern, but most of SE LA is going to get absolutely slammed.
Hopefully people understand the difference between the conversation about where that cone is and what it means.

Its the OT, there's only one place to air such grievances, Sonic.

So the NWS says basically everyone is getting 110mph+ ??? What the hell?
The nice little trend someone poster earlier this morning said 74mph in Gonzales.
That’s what been frustrating.

Baton rouge isn't getting 100+ mph sustained winds. That is ridiculous and basically invalidates that tweet.
They fricked up the greater than/less than signs.
Every sign they used is supposed to mean less than

Sillin giving a live update on Twitter shortly. I think he's still working some with Mark Sudduth at Hurricane Track.
Not sure when he's going live.

Quick live update on Hurricane #Ida as we get more recon data.
Intensification seems to be ongoing but it may not show up in the max wind numbers for a little bit. Tune in to hear more and ask a few Q’s! LINK

I hope never. That tweet made we want leave BR right now.

I'm in BR, and don't know jack-shite about Ida other than prepping for it.
Will the hurricane hit BR dead on, or will we be east or west of it? Being west would be better, right?

This is my first hurricane thread I’ve actually followed (and has really affected me). Gentlemen it has been an honor.
TD can be the absolute best and worst place on the Internet.
But when it comes to SE LA news and updates there is not a better source of news on earth. You just have to sort through some dogshit sometimes. After a few years you become an expert in sniffing it out and ignoring it.

That’s the National Weather Service in Slidell right? They have probably forgotten more about hurricane forecasting than we’ll ever know.
I don’t think I’d discount the possibility of 100+ mph winds along I-12 and I-10 yet. We’ll know more about intensity in the next few updates. I think it jogs east a little more and Baton Rouge misses the worst of the winds. It already looks like it’s tracking farther north than NE to me.

I’m riding it out in a condo south of LSU.

If I were JBE, I’d issue an evacuation order for Orleans Parish now
That would very possibly legitimately do more harm than good at this point. It’ll leave people trapped.
