Should make preparations beforehand anyway you're in the heart of hurricane season just assume it's going to hit you so you're ready.

I know models are getting better but I just don’t see how God sends another major to LC. Not gonna happen, we’re too early to call that happening.

Tiger91 I’m keeping an eye and prayers as all my family are in the same boat as you. Fortunately for me, I made the move North of the Intracoastal in Gulf Shores and found a nice brick home 21” above sea level. After Sally, I don’t want to deal with being so close to the Coast again.

I’m pretty interested in this one. We may get another landfall at max intensity. Max intensity means a smaller, more focused wind field. Strong weakening hurricanes have broader wind fields. Before Laura it had been a long time since Louisiana had a max intensity landfall.

lsumailman glad you're in a good safe spot ... I'm from north of I-10 so I'm a transplant. It's hard to leave and the pets won't travel well and I'd never leave them.

I just don't care ... hurricane, covid ... somethings gonna get me one day anyway.

Interesting how the GFS has it at the fastest speeds. Usually it is middle of the road, right?

they absolutely nailed Gustav

Didn't Gustav, and Ike which followed a week later, both form near Cuba and follow that track over Cuba?

Gustav formed south of Cuba and Ike formed in the Atlantic and went through*

Actually Ike went directly over Cuba longways. Gustav just smashed though the tip of Cuba perpendicularly. Gustav was cat 4 and a machine and that little trip over Cuba really hurt the circulation and it never recovered from that. Luckily.

I remember us evacuating for Gustav 12 hours to Austin and it didn't do a damn thing in LC.

Stayed for Ike and got a foot of water in the house

By Sunday I will have my camper full of supplies setup somewhere outside the storm path.

Ike was a massive storm that pushed a ton of water into Louisiana despite being way off the coast. LSU wasn’t going to cancel class but they called off classes around noon after a tree branch fell on a kid from the wind.

Gustav was worse to me (I was living in Iberville Parish at the time) than Andrew or Katrina - for where I was.
