The one thing I remember about Ida is that little shift to the east once on land, and it definitely had an impact on the NorthShore. What we experienced was nothing compared to those of yall down south, but I wasn’t expecting that little shift to the east.

Houma was close to being hell on Earth during Ida. It spent 5+ hours in the inner eyewall and never got a break by getting in the eye thanks to the stall and gradual turn the storm took. Ida printed mesovortices, it was truly remarkable in that respect. Because of that, much of the damage in and around Houma looked more like tornado damage — because it essentially was.
I don't blame anyone who rode out Ida in or near Houma for having some type of PTSD or the like. That was some of the worst Nature has to offer.

Yea it wasn’t fun. We rode it out here in Houma and I remember failing asleep sometime after midnight one wind still gettin it!

My wife was pregnant for Ida, we scheduled a bunch of doctors appointments just so we can hang out in the AC for a bit. They were building the women's center and BSG smuggled me like 10 cases of white cans while they had thay stupid alcohol ban after I went through my liquor stash

Nice tropical downpour here in Millerville /I-12 area in EBR from outer rain bands of Bertha. Close to 30mph gust as sheets of rain across rooftops gave it the tropical vibe, A couple cracks of Thunder too...

That’s pretty much what Hurricane Katrina did in Washington and St.Tammany parishes. I don’t know if was tornadoes or just straight line winds, but doing storm work with WST for a couple months after, I definitely remember seeing straight lines of damage with everything else being fine not that far away.
