I live basically right in the middle of Amelia Island around 30ft elevation. Based on those storm surge models what do you think is the outlook on the Island?

So Barack just declared state of emergency in Florida.

Thanks, I'll be cutting it close to having water.

That's a fantastic picture.
For what it's worth the local reporters are in full on ridiculous mode on television right now. "I just felt the wind pick up!"
Cue the shot of the palm tree gently swaying in the 10 mph wind.

12z Euro is ever so slightly to the west of the run 24 hours ago (12z Wednesday). They initialized with a pressure of 954 and show the same pressure 24 hours later, so perhaps we can infer they believe it will maintain its strength for the next 24 hours.
With the 12z GFS shifting west and the 12z Euro doing the same, I'd expect to see a slight shift in the NHC track that updates at 5 PM EDT.

What is gonna stink for those folks laying on the beach is when one of the storms in the outer bands drops a tornado.

Probably many rooms come open at the resort.
yeah that was my suggestion to them. Their room at whatever hotel may not be available, but they may be able to stay on property. This is assuming they can get to Orlando. Apparently they have tickets to the game, but have NOT yet purchased any tickets for Disney, so they may just blow it off.

It's what's called an eyewall replacement cycle or EWRC. Basically a new eyewall forms around the old inner one and it gets squeezed out. This puts a pause on strengthening until the replacement is over. Would have preferred this later tonight.

In orlando, things are starting to get weird. Torrential downpours for like 3 minutes. Then absolute silence.

Slackster, if you don't mind, could you post me a picture of the models much like what you did earlier (spaghetti model going against what NHC was saying as the cone)?
As of right now, I'm staying, but I just want to be as informed as possible - and have no idea where you got it from.

And in the least surprising news of the day my fellow Boynton residents are peppering 911 with hurricane questions. These are likely the same herp derps who were like "you're overreacting to this we've been through this before."

Also EWRC's usually expand the hurricane force wind fields. The timing of this is not good if it is one.

Welcome to a hurricane. Those bands of rain will become more frequent. Enjoy the lulls. Absolute silence will not set in until the storm passes and the power is out. Good luck. It sucks.
