I don't recall who all is in the Jacksonville area and who is staying put in that area, but the most recent model runs - basically the midday runs - are targeting the Jacksonville area with a chance the eye passes over or even to the west of Jacksonville, bring the strongest quadrant into play.

If true, I would then be East of the eyewall. Not good. Any chance more time over land weakens it though?

LINK Link to West Palm Channel 12 newsfeed.

News Channel 12 in West Palm has quality meteorologists and they have been on point ahead of the NWS. They are like some of the posters here.

Yeah it would, but with the way this has been setting up I think you're better off with a stronger storm to your east rather than a weaker storm right at you or to your west.

Slackster,

I live basically right in the middle of Amelia Island around 30ft elevation. Based on those storm surge models what do you think is the outlook on the Island?

(I evacuated by the way)

Going to ride it out in Summerville. Think downtown and the coast will have flooding but hard to say how bad. Good luck with whatever you decide goose.

Have a house is flood prone Shadowmoss, so want to stay to prevent theft (occurred last October in the floods) but starting to have second thoughts... thinking of driving to my Mom's in Rockhill.

The schools here are closed Monday and Tuesday for fall break. Apparently one of my wife's (no pics) friends, who is also a teacher, her family was planning on leaving right after the bell Friday, driving to Gainesville, getting a few hours of sleep, going to LSU game, then after game, driving to Orlando to spend Sunday and Monday in the land of Mouse, drive back Tuesday.

Apparently this lady had no idea there was a hurricane out there.

My guess is Disney will be fine by Sunday... but hotels may be an issue in Orlando and Gainesville? I know they are not staying at a Disney resort.

Disney is the most well oiled machine in all of entertainment. It will absolutely be all systems go as soon as all clear is given and likely before. I was never a huge fan growing up but since I've had kids and we've spent a lot of time there with my son with an instate pass, I've truly come to marvel at their efficiency. I'd call the resort itself. Probably many rooms come open at the resort.
