re: Stores in Oklahoma running out of beer

All because of dumb religion. Like some places you can't buy beer on Sundays. Drove through Indiana once, heading to Indianapolis for the Final Four. Stopped to get beer at a gas station. No beer. We were in a dry county. Had to go to the next county to buy beer. Stupid archaic laws.

Is that what people do when they buy the ones on ice at circle k? That little brown bag isn't fooling anyone.

Does Oklahoma have their own special religion?
Posted on 9/23/18 at 7:51 am to Y.A. Tittle
They worship Monster energy drinks and meth

You can buy any beer at the liquor store in OK. OK actually has a really good craft beer scene. It’s just the low point stuff they sell in grocery stores and gas stations, and that’s changing Oct 2

I figured Alabama would have one of the worst beer restriction laws.
Maybe not.
Maybe not.

and in Oklahoma... stores that can sell >3.2% ABV drinks can't sell it below room temperature
That's why you carry a CO2 fire extinguisher.

Oklahoma is a pretty shitty state. Not quite Mississippi-grade shitty, but close.
Past two elections, every single county in the state was red. There are worse states out there.

Right. We're only talking about gas station beer, which isn't really beer.

After Oct 1st they can sell up to 6%.
Tell what these real beers you speak of are? Most of the beers I enjoy are less the 6% ABV. Though BJ's Brewhouse Tatonka Stout is one of my favorites and that is 2.5% higher so I can't really give you too hard a time about that.

I just came back from broken bow a few weekends ago and it was serious shite up there. The places with craft beer above that 3% would not allow you to leave the bar area

I had to go to three stores yesterday just to find a store that had budlight. Ended up buying 8 6-packs of ponies just to have a case for the game

Prairie is a great brewery. Try Prairie Bomb.

Racist in Oklahoma kept the firewater watered down to control the native population.
The counties that have a higher NA population have largely moved on from alcohol to meth and opioids. The epidemic there is real, and it crosses racial lines.

Also, don’t you have to go to a specific state owned or managed business to purchase the good stuff like liquor or wine in Pennsylvania?
There were liquor stores (600 state run ones, I was told), but sometimes you had to go out of your way to find them, if you weren't in, say, Pittsburgh or something. It was often easier just to carry a bottle with you.
Oddly, the restrictions on beer seemed even worse to me. No idea why you can't buy beer in a convenience store like the rest of the world.
The worst states overall to purchase alcohol (if you worked around the state, rather than just in a major city) were Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Texas, Utah, Oklahoma, and Massachusetts. Oh, and Indiana was bad, too.

I live half the year in SE Oklahoma. The beer situation sucks but I mainly drink bourbon anyway. The liquor stores carry "craft" beer at normal alcohol levels but it's room temperature so you have to plan ahead.

The multitude of Native American owned liquor stores has been a driving reason gas stations and stores sell low% beer.

Wait...then how do they drink their road beers?
HOW DO THEY DRINK THEIR ROAD BEERS!?
