The Mississippi River diversion in plaquemines parish is one of those let’s pat each other on the back and save the coast feel good projects and is a total disaster and waste of money! We have to stop throwing money at problems we can’t fix. Lower plaquemines and lower St. Bernard are not going to be inhabitable in the near future. Stop wasting tax payer dollars on these places. As far as protection from storms, these projects are proven to only minimally help with hurricanes and when you weigh the cost it’s not worth it. We have to face facts that there will be a price to pay if you want to continue to live in south Louisiana. Also, frick that slime ball Jug Head Edwards for being a lying sack of shite about the impact of this stupid project.

They weren't very inhabitable ever.

He’s not wrong, the MRDP will only build a small amount of land and only in one area and it will take 50 years to accomplish.

So you rather just keep losing the land?

The land around the small area that will be rebuilt will still be eaten away

Well we found the oyster farmer hidden amongst us. Newsflash the diversion projects are designed to unfrick the fricking to Mother Nature.

Maybe you shouldn't have put your oyster leases in what was supposed to be a fresh water marsh!

Problem began after Eads built his walls. Get rid of it and the Old River structure. Let the river eat. Sacrifice a few things here and there , but over all we will be safer. Otherwise, you better build a lot of high levees south of I 10

Are you suggesting we abolish the Old River Control Structure and just let nature take its’ course?

When's the last time you went out there. The marshes in those areas are becoming open water fast enough to see from year to year.

That is just this administration trying to pass the blame. Army Corps didn't care about the report. The State basically begged them to pull the permit.

Agree.

Blow the levees below Belle Chase and let Mother Nature take over.

Mardi Gras Pass says hello. I don’t know how ignorant you have to be to work on the coast all day, every day, and bitch about how this diversion won’t build land fast enough - all the while Mardi Gras Pass was created by Mother Nature and is shitting all over your argument.

Even the Atchafalaya River delta is growing. As bad as Edwards was, and I voted for Landry….I’m quickly becoming less impressed by Landry’s governorship by the week.
