Alabama's governor has ordered the Alabama Air National Guard fighters to be scrambled.
Just in case he crosses the state line and threatens the suppy of Bammer hats and t-shirts at a Walmart there.

My family is from Tupelo and apparently this guy stole the plane from the Tupelo airport. His dad is a very prominent member of the area. He’s a druggie. Scary and very weird situation

If I'm seeing the maps right, it looks like he's just north of I-22 between Holly Springs and New Albany.

Watching a replay of the flight path has me wondering if he might be a student pilot who isn't particularly adept at figuring out where he is via landmarks. Things look a hell of a lot different in the air than they do on the ground where you have roads, familiar landmarks, and street signs. I know I sucked at VFR navigation for a good, long time when I first started as a student.
Should be interesting to see how this turns out.
