He's right. Stock investors hate uncertainty and an open presidential election is uncertainty. With an incumbent there's a little less because you can bet on how much trouble he's in.

everyone's 401k and investment porfolio (assuming some time in the game) is artificially inflated from the past few years anyway so this is just a correction down to the actual value

Big fricking deal. Not saying everything is rainbows and sunshine but its been 4 rough days that coincidentally happened to occur on the first 4 days of the year. This is one of those selective statistics that makes idiots panic when the reality is that we've had worse weeks multiple times in recent years.

I'm working with one that looks like he's getting clinically depressed about it. He's lost a few hundred thousand. I feel horrible for him.
