Another big issue is dead people getting money. Using 2018 tax returns, people who have since died are still getting money if the account is still open.

Friends of mine here in Houston just got a $2400 stimulus deposit this morning and combined they are knocking down >200K.

Maybe she is lying about how much they make
This is much more plausible than the IRS making a mistake

My aunt got $2400 yesterday. My uncle died in 2018 and she hasn't re-married. She filed her 2019 already as a Single filer.

Explain how it works. With a link. Because I’m seeing there is an income threshold for receiving checks.

It's a tax credit that is advanced to you. If they are not within the guidelines then they will pay it back on their 2020 taxes in 2021.
I can't find it at the moment, but the IRS at some point said that no portion of any stimulus will be required to be paid back.

I saw where they sent one to a dude who died in December of 2019

Here's a Business Insider article saying any overpayment of the stimulus will NOT have to be paid back.

It's based off of AGI.... So, either they are really good at doing taxes or they lie about how much they make.

It is supposed they are using 2017 returns and deducting any dependents that would now be over 17.
This is creating a delay for new filers that are no longer claimed as a dependent, but were in 2017.
