This is a person who tried to frick over Buddy Amoroso’s widow and constituents so she could have JBE appoint a black liberal democrat instead.

Wasn't just that fat bitch. It was all the other democrats besides Tara Wicker. They actually wanted JBE to appoint a black democrat to replace "balance out the Metro Council" although the district is about 80% Republicans.

Yeah, it was all of them but Wicker, but Chauna was the ringleader and she was the one who threw a major temper tantrum when Wicker said no.

While it doesn't change how despicable the move was...It was all for show for their base...they never had the votes. Not to mention JBE wouldn't have had a shot this go around had he nominated anyone but Denise Amoroso.

And while I know they couldn’t deny SG services legally, episodes like this remind us just how ruthless these people are and if given half a chance they would do almost anything.

It's really Chauna and Erica that are the issue.

LaMont is too disinterested to do anything, and Donna is just going to fall in line because of voter-base.

You are playing both sides of the fence.

On one hand, you give me this laundry list of parish wide taxes and parish wide services, and tell me nothing will change, they will continue to be parish wide taxes and parish wide services that will occur in St. George.

On the other hand, you say things that imply St. George will get a better bang for the buck considering how much in parish wide taxes it pays.

Those two hands are mutually exclusive. Both cannot be true. If all of the money is parish-wide, and starting a new city isn't going to change that... then how do you think St G will be able to spend money better... the money it won't collect and won't keep for services it won't provide?

quote:

We believe our money is being used to subsidize city police, city fire, the constable, city court and etc. We don’t think we are getting close to a dollars service for every dollar we pay to the general fund and we certainly control how it’s spent.

This is probably a correct assumption. But again, if you don't actually any control over this money... what are we doing?

quote:

Then there’s the promise of an ISD once a city is created. That’s the ultimate prize.

Fair enough... then quit talking about the other stuff that you can't change.

Do you think we will keep paying property taxes if they quit building and maintaining our parks!

Hmmm... so it's a parish wide tax... you don't think the parish will be the least bit vindictive and start spending less recreation money in St. George? And you ARE going to pay it... lol

quote:

EMS is also furnished parish wide and funded with our property taxes. Do you think they legally can quit serving SG? And would we continue to pay property taxes for this service?

I am sure the standards for service will be as low as they can legally get away with. And again... if it's a parish wide tax you will pay it and you will like it =)

The same questions applies to the Libraries, mosquito control, and all the other services we pay taxes or fees to receive.

That's all controlled by the same city-parish leaders that are doing everything they can, legal and illegal, to stop you from forming your own city?

Best part was her attempt at filibustering. They let her ramble about god only knows before they cut her off.

Wrong again, the 48-58 million dollars is not a part of the parish wide tax we pay. It’s modtly made up of the two cent sales tax we pay into the general fund. It has nothing to do With the tens of millions we pay for all the other services we receive.

You don’t live in EBR, and you obviously don’t understand how things work here. You are confused, but don’t worry many if not most EBR residents thing SG is leaving the city.

So what services does St G residents receive out of that general fund, then?

I don't believe St. G is going to get 48-58 million in taxes and not have to take over any services. So, what services are they going to have to take over, to spend that 48-58 million on?

I understand it's a shitshow and uses unnecessary complexity to hide stuff. =)

None...that's the point. The CITY puts that $48-58M into the CITY's general fund to pay for CITY services.

Carrying costs of the city government? is that worth it?

Is it fair to say that EBR Parish control things that should be the responsibility of the cities, just like the State of LA controls things that should the responsibilities of the parishes / cities?
