SG property owners pay property tax for Fire Protection to a fire department depending on where their property is.

Paid towards specific department? Not following... Would it be the SG department or EBR department?

I'm currently trying to figure out how I can de-incorporate my property and join St. George if it happens. My property borders a Parish ROW that connects to St. George

My parents live just on the other side of the Manchac from StG. I don't think they would be able to somehow asked to be annexed.

I'm in BR proper...I know it wouldn't be easy...

My hope is that St. George stops/slows the flight from the Parish and that the new muni and Parish work well with each other. Thus, preserving and strengthening my already solid BR proper neighborhood.

Great real. Zero chance there are "riots". You will have the SJW bitch and moan about it, the opposition file lawsuits, and a few victory parties.....thats it.

Fire Departments in EBR are manged by separate Fire Districts. For the most part, the City of BR is serviced by BRFD and the southern portion of the parish is serviced by the already existing St. George Fire.

St. George would have areas covered by St. George Fire and Eastside Fire District, IIRC.

There are 12 total fire districts in EBR

I think the parish is going to cut you off on a lot of this stuff AND stop collecting the money for it. That's where St. G. is going to work. And again, this should be the goal.

BREC provides parks and recreation. We pay property taxes to support BREC. Do you think we will keep paying property taxes if they quit building and maintaining our parks!

EMS is also furnished parish wide and funded with our property taxes. Do you think they legally can quit serving SG? And would we continue to pay property taxes for this service?

The same questions applies to the Libraries, mosquito control, and all the other services we pay taxes or fees to receive.

No way will this happen.

They would be in violation of State Law.

Somehow I don’t think that would stop Chauna Banks from attempting it.

Well, that would require them to leave Iberville or Ascension as Manchac is the southern border of the Parish.

That doesn’t narrow it down much.

I realize that. I was being a little sarcastic (sorry?) about it. They moved off Old Perkins years ago because they wanted to be as close to BR as possible without being part of EBR because it was still a shite show years ago.

If so, it looks like I need to get some chalk outline stickers to start going on the back of my car for each rioter I had to take out to get home.

I hope she tries and exposes just how corrupt these people are.

I can just see EMS refusing to serve some little old lady in Shenandoah and she dies.
McKernan and the others would be lining up to sue the parish.

Riots — which I assume would include random acts of violence and destruction considering the opposition — would just go to prove why the separation was necessary.

Chauna as one vote on the Metro Council would have no standing if she were introducing ordinances to restrict funding to St. George.

It would also not be allowed by the Parish Attorney nor would it have the votes.

Doesn’t mean she won’t try.

This is a person who tried to frick over Buddy Amoroso’s widow and constituents so she could have JBE appoint a black liberal democrat instead.
