Don't know how he screwed it up when it should be pretty easy to read.
No if you go back and watch it again, he says something like i read it wrong, it's right here on the card, it's my fault. His usual gigs are a lot more impromptu stuff, so he probably doesn't read off cards or prompters that much.
I think he wasn't used to the usual order (2nd runner up, then 1st, then winner) and just saw the word 1st and thought it was 1st place.
In high school, I won 1st place in a tournament but the 6th place finisher got the trophy during the ceremony bc the guy reading the results got confused. I didn't know til I saw my ballots had all 1's. Tourney officials had to stop their team bus and go get the trophy. You know that kid felt awful
