Stepping out of your bubble and realizing you're the anomaly is eye opening

The longer I stay in my area just within the edges of the Texas Hill Country, the more jarring it is when I venture into a city or even more diverse suburb.
Went into San Antonio to the zoo with the kids recently and realized, there are more people NOT like me than there are like me.
Edgars, dudes wearing all black pants and t-shirts in 90+ degree heat. Grown men wearing Pokemon tshirts, shitty tattoos everywhere, a black girl with blonde dread weaves that hung past her butt wearing a Catholic school uniform 5 sizes too small.
Looking around I realized what I think is normal, really isn't for the majority of people in the city.
My area is white, hispanic and a ton of mixed hispanic and white families. Not many other races - even inner San Antonio is vastly different than anyplace in Louisiana demographically, but even among the fellow caucasians, the styles are so different than what I see by me.
Goes back to my belief that there are two different Americas right now. I feel like I blend in better in Paris (which I don't and I've been there) than I do inside a city now for the most part.

Current day Austin people don't really count as "normal" people.
ETA: Why did I think that said Austin?

It's a shitty bowl haircut that is popular among mexicans.

my family has had a lease on the Knibbe Ranch up there for decades. used to be my absolute favorite area of Texas until San Antonio pretty much encompassed it all.

We were a better society when the only ones with tattoos were sailors, soldiers, bikers, and convicts.

I've met some of the family. It's definitely encroached. 46 is getting all kinds of big box stores. sucks

when i was a kid on the ranch, we had to drive either to Blanco or all the way in past 1604 for groceries or the hardware store. now it's pretty much all right there. it's a bummer. if / when i move back to Texas, i will probably move out the other side of SA somewhere, maybe out highway 90.

Variety is the spice of life baw. This country would be pretty lame if everyone were just like me.
I’ve been traveling over the past week.
Love seeing at the hipsters, dweebs, hicks, magas, handicapped, etc. all peacefully intermingling in real life. No extremism, no hate, none of it. Witnessed kind acts from a lot of different people. Real life is awesome !

Was it like the scene in Back to the Future 2 when Marty walk around the future downtown for the first time?
