Was in a dead end canal off lake verret 3 weeks ago and saw the most water snakes I’ve ever seen in one area. I think it’s mating season or something cause that canal was thick with those suckers.

My father in law was bit by a huge rattler at deer camp. Took him to hospital brought him back to camp and told him to say there and rest. Went back to check on him and he had got up , went back found the rattler again and killed him!
Brilliant.

Your wife now knows you killed her father, Luke.

Scared of a little Dekay's Brown Snake. Full grown, they're like 10" long

This... probably the most docile snake of them all, not to mention one of the smallest.

For God's snake would some of you frickers spend 10 minutes learning the difference between poisonous and non-poisonous snakes in N America before killing a little fella like that.

Any brownish, black snake under a foot long is pretty much non-poisonous UNLESS they have a yellow/chertreuse green tail....then they are either a baby copperhead or a baby water moccassin. THESE you can exterminate with extreme prejudice.

I've never understood the fear of snakes. The odds of dying from a snake bite is pretty damn slim.

This, but the OB helped me over the fear. That, and having a bigger fear of the inevitable rodent population explosion. Prepare thy anus for that OP.

Figure if they aren't gonna learn the difference between which ones can hurt them vs which ones can't, they aren't going to put in the time to differentiate between poison and venom

Had a similar experience a few years ago. I was cutting grass in the early spring up around a pile of leaves. For whatever reason this trail through the dirt and leaves caught my eye as I was pushing the mower and I followed it right up the back of this long arse snake. In an instant I had jumped about 3 feet in the damn air and slung the mower in the opposite direction as I hit the ground running like a scared bitched. I damn near shite myself when I realized I had walked right up the arse of that bastard with the mower and I sure as frick wasn't waiting around to see what the front end of it looked like

It is in our DNA to have a instinctive fear of snakes as they are the original enemy. Its been this way since "pre-man" first slithered out of the primordial ooze as a amphibian in our transition to land based species. People instinctively fear snakes before they have ever seen one.

I own a lawn care business and I concur with your conclusion. It is also dry, definitely not to wet to cut.

I said previously that’s not the actual picture of it. I realized afterwards it was the Dekays Brown snake so that’s just a pic I found on google. I didn’t wait to inspect it before reacting. I stepped on something, I saw snake, I jumped out of my skin.

Being truly honest it's nearly word for word.. There was more that occurred afterwards.. Wish I could find the pic of the carnage that occurred in the backyard or the one with me and the dog peering out the rear window with me white knuckle clutching a gun..

My wife knows that I'm a touch crazy and just deals with me the way i am.. And yes, our personalities are so polar opposite that we and oddly good fit..
