is there any legit research showing that seed oils are the big boogeyman they're making it out to be? I would think that if somebody is fat and unhealthy due to seed oils they'd continue being fat and unhealthy if they replaced all seed oil consumption with tallow/butter consumption.

No. It’s just something fat people blame for being fat instead of their lack of self control.

Nope. Just some pseudo science around oleic acid by people who aren’t qualified to interpret findings jumping to conclusions. The problem has and always will be that you can eat 1300 cal worth of French fries and still want more, no matter what they’re fried in.

No.

But those Instagram and TikTok fake nutritionists love to say it is bad.

my favorite is the carnivore doctor who clearly at some point saw his LDLs and was like “frick” so eh somewhat expanded his diet.

there are a lot of ways america can be healthier, the problem with RFK is 50% of his ideas are fricking crackpot and the other 50% are expensive liberal policies that won’t get funded.

Speaking of animal fats, whatever happened to the bio diesel craze a few years ago?

Companies still go pick up the used fryer grease from restaurants and use them in all sorts of applications. One being sustainable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel.

I personally dont know but its not only being fat.

For me, foods can trigger my rosacea. So skin problems and not weight problems.

In 1990 McDonalds stopped using beef tallow to fry their foods.

From 1960-1990 the US obesity rate stayed in a range of 10-15% of the population.

Starting in the 1990's, the obesity rate has drastically increased from 11.6% in 1990 to 42% in 2024.

I don't know any studies behind whether or not they make you fat, but there's quite a bit of evidence that seed oils are highly inflammatory and terrible for your gut.

As someone who was dealing with significant inflammation/ bloating, seemingly out of nowhere, I can tell you that cutting out seed oils and ultra processed foods has make a major difference.

I switched to carnivore almost a year ago, and I've never felt better. Using tallow tastes so much better than any oil. For anyone that questions it, try frying in tallow and tell me you don't feel the difference. You don't cough up all the grease in your grease trap either.

ETA: I say "Carnivore Diet," but I've now moved more to "Animal Based."

You basically went on an elimination diet, of course you feel better. It very well could have been something other than the seed oils that was causing all of the inflammation. Glad you're feeling better regardless.

Are the still in business? They built a BUNCH of locations around us about 20 or so years ago and I think almost all of them are shut down now. Used to be a damn good burger though....

That’s what happens when you replace seed oils with HGH.

It's possible. But when toying with the idea of making the switch, I noticed the difference when I'd eat fries in seed oil vs tallow. Which honestly, was rare, because I didn't really eat fried food to begin with.

Just my personal experience in using tallow.

It's alarming how much seed oil is in stuff though. And I don't understand its place in the ingredients.

I’ve been the same weight for years, but I feel way better and have noticeably less inflammation when I eat “clean” ie avoid oils and sugar.

There’s mountains of evidence seed oils are terrible for you, but this change isn’t going to not make people fat. They’re still going to suck down a 2k calorie shake shack meal and head straight back to the couch.
