classic, and very ignorant analogy

we need better gun control laws. that isn't to say someone should come take your guns. any idiot or psychopath with a few bucks can go acquire a gun, and that is an issue and leads to our staggering numbers on the firearm front

Nah. They'll convict him because it doesn't matter what they were stealing if the shooter didn't see a weapon or otherwise perceive a threat to his life.

You can't shoot someone in Louisiana for trying to steal your catalytic converter in Louisiana unless they point the wrench at you and swear to God they're about to throw it.

I understand the law. I am just saying if he gets the right jury some will sympathize with him.

Good Lord! Our hide and seek games when I was a wee lad were all over the neighborhood, in everyone's yard.

You are late to this thread so its not your fault but the kids weren't really playing H&S

Probably just smoking weed or drinking. Or you could be an asset and assume the worst.

Sometimes I really feel sorry for your lone brain cell. He must get pretty damn lonely in that vast space.

The poster Bosceaux lives in Starks. Hope it wasn't anyone related to him.

I just saw this thread and honestly can’t believe I don’t know any of the people involved.

I will say I’m surprised something like this hasn’t happened sooner. Since 2020 there have been a rash of property crimes. Basically tweekers stealing anything that isn’t nailed down. It’s very unfortunate what happened. Around here in the middle of the night the odds of it being kids playing around vs meth heads trying to steal your shite is probably 1000 to 1. Most areas of Starks houses are 100s of yards apart and separated by dense woods so random kids being on your property is a huge outlier.

Not excusing the guys actions. It was dumb and irresponsible. Shooting fleeing people will always be a bad call.

I said this over and over in this thread and people called me crazy. They think Starks is a suburban neighborhood or something. They have no idea about the dynamics of that part of the world all along up the river and in the piney woods.

You never hid around someone else's property playing hide and go seek as a kid?

No, because I was raised to respect the property of others. Something that would have prevented all of this.

Oh but but but this stuff always happened. You just didn't know about it because it wasn't reported

And when I say this I mean a meth head getting popped not a random kid. Though there are several random kids in this area that run with the tweekers.

I thought the hide and seek story was a little off, but then I read the article and saw this

quote:

The incident happened on Jimmy Doyle Road. The area of the shooting is a dead-end road with only three residents: Doyle, the victim’s family and a relative to the victim’s family.

That makes it much more believable to me. Two of those lots were owned by the victims family. I could easily see those kids running around at night in those woods. Probably should have stayed off the crazy guy’s property but their story is believable.

When you’re in the woods like that you shouldn’t be seeing anybody near your property you weren’t expecting

Who gives a shite? You shouldn’t indiscriminately shoot at something when you don’t even know what you’re shooting at.

Some of y’all are god awful examples of gun owners.

age of irresponsibility. Kids will say they aren't at fault, parents will say the kids arent at fault, shooter will say he aint at fault.

This is so fricking stupid. We rolled, knocked, and fricked with peoples property all throughout the 90s. Got yelled at and cops/parents called a few times but no one was ever retarded or pussy enough to shoot at us running away
