It's quite strange. They don't give a frick about people losing their livelihoods. I am surrounded by quite a few dems out here in California, obviously, and the ones I talk to just don't give a frick. They all have the same rebuttal "but look at the lives being lost." And yes, my heart goes out to anyone who has lost their life to this virus, but, it's just not as bad as first feared and to continue a shut down for something with this low of a death rate is insane. And that's not to mention that now, you're destroying lives on top of the ones being lost from the virus.
It doesn't have to be all or nothing, and they can't understand that. Older people and people who have compromised immune systems should stay at home. The rest of the people need to get back to work if they're able to. I'm lucky enough that my work is considered essential, so I'm not hurting as bad as others. However, I've seen some people who have gone in to a depression because they are worried about losing everything they've worked hard for, for many years, due to this. It's sad to see and my heart breaks for them as well.

And that’s a legit issue. We can’t stay shut down forever. So we have to balance getting out, and encouraging people to get out, with workable, doable public health protections, like keeping distance and yes, simple masks. That may be all the inconvenience required to protect almost everyone.
However, the “don’t do anything to protect anyone” movement, almost entirely on the right, is ridiculous.

That publication is not from Stanford. It is a right wing propaganda site.
this coming from you make me and likely a lot more posters lean towards believing the publication.

Agreed, one thing to discuss the numbers and outlook.
But right wing vs lib zingers/bickering should stay on PT. Stannix didn’t need to blatantly bring PT to the OT even if newer CDC numbers are reassuring compared to prior estimates

There’s absolutely no way you’re lying.
Rich coming from the one of the more disingenuous and overly dramatic posters I've noticed on this board, which is saying a lot.
The lines outside hospitals being paid movie extras was included for a theory you can feel comfortable riding with.

Stanford and CDC studies confirm Chinese Virus about like the flu
Your linked article just casually includes asymptomatic cases into the covid fatality rate calc, just to make it seem more like a typical flu. It completely glosses over the fact that if we would include asymptomatic flu cases (roughly 50%) into the flu fatality rate, it would be closer to 0.05% instead of 0.1%.
Covid is about 5X worse than the flu, and this info from the CDC does not change that. There is no new information here.
You can say that 5X flu is still not worth the reaction, and I would agree with you. But playing games with the numbers in order to cry "hoax" is not the best way to fight that fight.

Use your fricking brain to decide what to do and not to do. Don't do stupid shite just because government recommends against doing said stupid shite.

Exactly. I'm ready for things to open up more and more. In retrospect, it's clear that some areas were hit very hard whereas many others probably just needed "Phase 2" type measures in the first place.
However, I'm sure reading so many nutcase theories with a bunch of heavily manipulated data to "prove" Covid is no big deal at all is about the last thing to make more regular people feel confident in getting back to normal.
