Not sure if this has been posted, but look at this bullshite.

quote:

Only those who have received the COVID-19 vaccine will be able to safely evacuate from St. Vincent after the Caribbean island nation's La Soufriere volcano erupted on Friday, Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves said in a press conference Saturday. Giving a press conference with his face visibly welling up with tears, the Vincentian prime minister explained that cruise ships had volunteered to transport the island's residents to nearby Caribbean islands for shelter, but only vaccinated people would be allowed to board.

so they are potentially sentencing people to death because they don't have a vaccine for a virus with a 98%+ survival rate

An important item you didn't mention.

The decision does not appear to be his, but rather was made by the neighboring island nations of Barbados, Grenada, Antigua and St. Lucia, which said they would only accept fully vaccinated refugees.

I'm curious how these countries have kept the coronavirus from reaching their lands. Because otherwise, this seems deliberately stupid.

I'd imagine vaccination rates in all of those places are pretty low as well

So stupid

So the facts: Not everyone is in danger. I certainly am not as it stands.
The whole vaccination debate is so dumb. The RECIEIVNG counties are the ones who mandated that you must be vaccinated to enter. Either they are vaccinated before leaving or upon entry! It's not a bad idea. Many of these countries boarders have been closed and they are opening up just for us. They are barely coping with covid for their own citizens yet they are opening up for us. We are grateful.
The unvaccinated have the choice of either going to one of many local shelters or getting vaccinated and evacuating. They also could go to a grenadine island. It's St. Vincent AND THE GRENADINES afterall.
The vaccine has been available since February if I'm not mistaken. I was vaccinated in March and my 2nd dose is scheduled in May. The govt has been begging persons to come and get vaccinated. We have a total of ~ 80k doses which is good for 40k people. Roughly 10k persons have been vaccinated, hence the begging. Like the US the vaccine has been made political and everyone knows more than researchers and scientists.
There seems to be alot of guessing and misinformation in this thread. Please cut it out if you are unsure of what is happening.

Agreed

They do have small populations and it's much easier to control Covid cases when on a isolated island though

Can evacuate to other islands.

They can still go to other parts of the island which are safe.

Exactly and the Grenadines are a long island chain that are part of the same country.
