Sheriff Smith needs to be arrested just like anyone else would be.

Smith was involved in a trashy, drunken fight and assaulted someone. Smith is in a world of trouble.

what % of the population would have been arrested for doing what he did?

It simply cannot be business as usual today for the STPSO. I figured Smith would have released a statement over the weekend saying he was voluntarily entering substance abuse treatment or something of the like while temporarily relinquishing his role as elected Sheriff for STP until the matter is resolved.

The silence is deafening for the tax paying citizens of St. Tammany Parish IMO. I did not vote for Randy, but am still owed an explanation as to why the Sheriff was involved in a fist fight in a public restaurant during business hours on a Friday afternoon whereby the other person was not arrested for assaulting a police officer.

For committing assault and battery with very real chance that a drunk and disorderly charge could be tacked on? I don't know. It depends on how connected you are. If it was me I would have been arrested. With you being Chicken, maybe not.

I can envision the scene.

Law enforcement officer puts handcuffs on Chicken.

"Do you know who I am???" he asks agressively.

"No, who."

"I'm CHICKEN!!!"

"Oh, sorry sir, my mistake."

Because everyone knows how petty and vindictive Smith is. No one wants to piss him off in case he walks away from this unscathed and then uses the authority of the STPSO to exact revenge. I really think Smith is about as ignorant and petty as Latoya was.

the sheriffs office put out a statement over the weekend saying smith has “remained in control of the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office”. Since nothing has changed today it appears business as usual is the case.

this is pretty amazing “do not give a frick” but that is SOP for Randy smith

Neither have any authority over the sheriff

Unless he is recalled or resigns, he’ll still be sheriff

So with a 2nd degree battery conviction, Smith will still be still be able to work for the Sheriff's department?

both/all can and should say something though. No they cannot discipline or sanction him but they (like smith) work for the citizens of st tammany and this kind of behavior is unacceptable regardless of circumstance. I saw Joe Impastato said something to the effect of “not appreciating the negative social media posts” of Couvillion. Well no shite Joe, way to stand up and be counted. I’m pretty sure there’s available relief for that besides beating the offenders’ arse in a bar.

yet everyone is comfortable hiding behind their door today.

The hamsters would aggressively defend their Master.

It would be like the movie “Ben” except with hamsters.

He’s not an employee, he’s an elected official so he doesn’t “work for the sheriffs dept” now.

ETA: Sheriffs have always had lots of political power in Louisiana and they have used that power to pass laws that protect them.

Most people, including me, don't care that Bobby got punched in the mouth. Call it good old small town, whatever. Someone needed to do it.

And the only place that it has been stated that he was choked from behind is from Bobby himself (if I recall correctly).

And no I don't have anything to do with the sheriff's office.

Smiths lawyers (plural, that the parish is paying for)

Why would the parish be paying for his lawyers since its related to an alleged offense that he committed off duty and in a personal capacity?

Calling a drink "gender fluid" and naming it GAYWATCH sounds like sarcasm/satire to me
