Spoke to a buddy who has experience in parish government, and he said they proclaim broad powers, knowing it will be challenged and reduced down the road.
Talk about the very definition of tyranny...an illegal decree in which the private citizen risks harassment and arrest initially, before the courts have to check powers.
Unbelievable.
The White House and CDC just released a 100% unconstitutional edict that they admitted was illegal and wouldn’t stand in court but just hope it’s tied up till it runs its course.
That’s how our government wants to work people.

By private property, that would include all land, all homes, all businesses including banks, checking and savings accounts, stocks, cash notes, even patents, and copyrights.

Whether or not this executive order allowing him to assume total control of private property is legal or not, I voted for him last election but will not be voting for him again. 1- to release an order stating that he can assume control of my property is a massive overreach of power and 2- even if the intent was not extreme, not to paint more context in the verbiage or a separate release for the public to understand is a total failure of authority.
All of this. Voted for him too. I’d join a recall movement.
To even think this type of order might possibly fly needs to be slapped down with the quickness.

Came here to post this very thing, but saw you beat me to it 3nOut.

Just listened to the W&J segment. Cooper comes across as a complete boob!
He contradicts himself and basically rambles about this being a pandemic, blah, blah.
W&J completely discredited him.

Anyone know how to listen to this interview or have a link?
IDK how to automate it for you but the clownery starts around 16:30 into the 9:00 hour.

Cool. Can you get the parish to finally move the street drain in front of my house? 'ppreciate it.

Cooper's statement
His majesty has spoken.
bullshite statement.
First off, we are not in the middle of a natural disaster when someone's life is in grave, immediate danger.
Second, I don't care if he doesn't intend to seize private property. The point is that the language is there, and can be easily abused.
His statement does not fix or clarify anything.

Either an inside joke that I don’t get, or you’ve got the wrong guy. If I’m going to rule this parish with an iron fist, I won’t have any relatives living here.

The language states “it is further ordered…”
makes it read like an update to the existing pandemic emergency orders. In what scenario could this be applied to our property regarding the pandemic?
Does this not give them the power to shut down your gatherings or businesses?

Just wrote him a scathing email. I voted for him as well but told him he lost my vote regardless of how quickly he rescinded his tyrannical order. I’ll sign any recall to get him out quicker

What a complete imbecile. Stuff like this isn't hard. Here's what his statement should have said.
"Earlier today I signed an order that contained standard statutory language. After numerous parish citizens questioned the scope of the language, I carefully re-examined it and agree it is questionable. I have edited and re-signed the Executive Order after removing that language. I would never, and would never allow a Parish employee, to infringe on anyone's personal property rights. I apologize for the confusion. It won't happen again."
You know why he didn't do that? Because power hungry politicians are incapable of saying "I was wrong." fricking tyrants.

Yeah, that would have worked. I’m not defending him being an idiot, I just don’t think he would ever use this power. That being said, this document needs to be destroyed and never used again.
