Close-contact services like hair, nail and tanning salons, barber shops and massage studios will not be allowed to reopen until the final phase, beginning June 12

Cooper also stressed that if coronavirus cases trend upward again at any point, the proposed phases could be delayed and restrictions could be brought back.
This should go well

Stupid to keep salons closed when dentists are open

I still love how sno-ball stands are open as an essential business but god forbid we are allowed to get a haircut.

1200 people at Lowes getting mulch on a Saturday is just fine. These people are fricking morons.

As of midday Thursday, St. Tammany Parish had 1,220 cases of coronavirus and 110 deaths, making it fourth in the state for deaths behind Orleans, Jefferson and East Baton Rouge parishes.
I love how the make this seem out of character. St. Tammany is the 5th largest Parish in the state.

I'm starting to think our government wants to bury the Rona job losses amongst those we were already experiencing at the state wide level in a good national economy.

This “number of cases” thing is horribly missing the boat when we are increasing testing at the same time.
Of course cases will go up.
Somebody has to get through to these people.

frick Mike Cooper, I cant believe we would have been better off re-electing Pat Brister’s retarded arse.
It’s going to be real great when Chevron, LLOG, Pool Corp, Textron and the like move out of the parish to other states. At least we’ll have those outdated 1/2 full strip malls left.

Closing salons and keeping them closed until the last phase defies all logic. It’s easy to screen a business that is done by appointment and has very limited interaction. Silly!

frick every level of government in this wretched state.
If my neighborhood gym stays closed until June I'm going to burn the fricking clubhouse to the ground.

The hair and nail salons have been opening the back door (some are always open to the back door) for a few weeks now. You can get your hair and nails done if you’re a regular.

^^^ this. I got mine cut last week and the girl said she’s been staying busy just working from home. She still has to pay rent to her salon during all of this so trying to help out a bit. I worry though that a neighbor of hers might snitch on her. I’ve heard some hair stylists have gotten their license pulled for a year and fined like $3000 or some crazy shite. Not sure how unemployment works for 1099 but I think she told me it was not nearly enough to stop working.
