Absolutely senseless.

A Mandeville native was killed in his Dallas-area apartment after a bullet fired from a neighboring unit unit went through a wall and struck him Friday afternoon, the local ABC affiliate in McKinney, Texas, reported Sunday.
The station, WFAA-TV, reported that police say they found 26-year-old Brandon Power, an alumnus of St. Paul's School and LSU, dead from a gunshot wound in his Grassmere Lane apartment after responding to a welfare check.
Police arrested Michael Parker Jr., 22, and booked him into the Collin County jail on a manslaughter charge, the report said.
Power graduated from St. Paul's in 2013 and then from LSU with an engineering degree in 2017.

CBS News' David Begnaud reported that Power's emergency contacts were notified after Power's Apple Watch detected his heart stopped.
Additional details, including why Parker Jr. allegedly fired the gun, haven't been released.
Absolutely senseless.

This story shares something with the other murder story on the front page...

Does an apple watch know when you take it off? Just curious how this setting would work. I guess it would be able to detect a sluggish heart rate that stopped?

Well that's a really screwed up way to find out.

You are right. I see a pattern developing here. Is it okay to tell the Truth or can that get you in trouble? Biden's America

I get the implication, but lets not act like this one is anything remotely similar to the other.... By all initial accounts, this was a complete accident, but we will know more hopefully soon.

That's a cool feature, but also morbid and scary as shite.
Imagine this guy's mom is at work minding her business when all of a sudden she gets an alert that says her son is not breathing. Now she's frantically trying to call and can't get an answer. now she's calling all of his friends to see if anybody is with him, but to no avail.
frick man, that entire thought made me really sad.

It's a little messed up, but it's pretty cool at the same time. My phone knows if I'm in a car wreck and can send help without me doing anything. It recently saved someone in a bobcat accident.

Honestly, increases your chances of survival if you have a heart attack
Getting even more morbid... I would rather someone find my body before I break down too far. Not sure why I care, but I don't want the last physical characteristic to be decomposed

It is basically the concept of Cyberpunk 2020’s “Trauma Team” monitor.
If it detects that you’ve flatlined, it sends out a pulse signal to the nearest Trauma Team ambulance to show up and attempt to revive you.

How do you not go check on your neighbor after shooting through the wall?

Another news story I saw said that the Apple watch notified the emergency contacts when it detected a hard fall. The father then called the fire department, who went there and broke open the door, finding him deceased. They then called the father back and told him.
That sounds more plausible.

While this is true, the victim's boyfriend is one of the nicest people I have ever met.
