ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – Authorities are responding to a report of an officer involved shooting in north St. Louis. It happened just before 1 p.m. Tuesday at McLaran and Riverview outside a market.

Authorities say a man tried to rob the 5-Star Market convenience store with a knife.

The store owner says he got into a dispute with the man.

Police were called but the suspect refused to put down the weapon. He tried to attack police and was shot and killed.

We will bring you more details as they become available.

Agree. That's direct accountability

Having the cameras is one thing. You have to make sure they keep them on. There has to be some consequences (not talking losing a job, maybe warning 1st offense and so forth) if they turn them off while they're on duty.

Here's an interesting case study. Let's compare the response to the latest shooting to the one in Ferguson and see what's different with respect to outcomes.

Btw, CNN already floating the problem I foresee in the near future...

Speaking about how the secrecy of a Grand Jury is going to piss people in the community off.

City knows how to play the game. Ferguson take note. They got it out there from the get go that it was a robbery and a knife involved. Don't let people fester and stew on it. City got experience in that game.

Fergeson didn't know these things at an early point. They are still trying to find eyewitnesses.

Why do blacks and the media choose not to discuss the reason they act like they act instead of what happens to them as a result of their actions?

Two reasons:

Personal responsibility

Political Correctness

They knew the officer was injured enough to need medical care. They had his report. They knew there was a robbery.

Because they are similar right. One cop on scene, unarmed suspect, but they can't both be legitimate use of force?

Unarmed kid in the middle of a residential neighborhood vs knife wielder in the act of a robbery - Not the best case study.

But yes I agree the Ferg cops blew the presentation and communication of information big time.

That's apparently untrue as 12 people are alleged to have backed the officer's story. And even if it had a negative impact on witness testimony (I can't even fathom what that would look like) so what? What is the worst case scenario?

I am curious if those who say to pull no punches in stopping the rioters also support providing such information early to stop the riots. Not sure how releasing it changes anything anyways. Release it earlier and witnesses say what? MB hit the officer? Ok, great, they just became a witness for the prosecution.

Again, they said monday I believe they were still trying to find witnesses. What if it hadn't been 12 and only the officer's testimony vs the other supposed "witnesses". I'm not saying it was done right, but I think it would have been a mistake to dump evidence to appease the bunch that were accusing police of murder while his body was still on the ground without having the statements in yet.

Robbery reported and dismissed as character assassination. Protesters would have cheered any harm to LE.
