The point being, whether entertainment or not, they are openly pushing an agenda and stacking the deck against officer Wilson and the rest of law enforcement.

it has a lot to do with what you asked. they are pushing their own agenda, in this case stacking the deck against wilson in order to pander to their audience, without thinking of what their word means to the public as a whole, therefore causing tensions to rise even more. But they won't be held responsible, this has been going on for a while.
