Should be fired for incompetence. Don't say anything. A simple I'm not allowed to comment on an ongoing investigation would suffice. By releasing it piece by piece it makes it seem like the story is changing to fit a narrative beneficial to his office.

He stuck out like a sore thumb when the description went out. That gives credence to the theory that the officer pegged him as a possible suspect.

So a call went out in the process of the stop? Why the frick didn't the chief say this at the press conference? The way he portrayed it the 2 incidents were independent of each other.

But thats not what the chief is saying, which is completely convoluting the situation.
The chief is saying he saw the cigars and that is how he identified them as the potential robbers.
So we're to believe that cigars in their hands, as opposed to 6'4 290 wearing the exact clothes of the robbers is what turned you onto them?
