Dog is at least $2,500. Dude should have had the dog wrapped in bubble wrap, with a helmet and a seatbelt.

Anyone notice the ticket cited the improper (non-existent) statute?

The seatbelt statute is 32:295.1, not 32:95.1.

Did the state ever crack down on Washington and their corrupt cops for fleecing drivers on I-49?

Now they are writing tickets based on rumors and citing non-existent statutes.

Eric Champagne clearly has never driven through St Landry Parish before. This isn't a "Power Issue" as he claims...it's a revenue issue brotha.

Forgot the details, but the law changed such that fines for speeding 5-10 mph over the limit on I-49 are now paid to the state, and no longer captured as revenue for the City.

So less incentive now to write you up for 3-4 mph over.

How the frick are you gonna get careless operation when you're inside the family dollar and the vehicle is in the parking lot? The statute explicitly says "on the public roads".

The real question is, was the pickup a fancy, new, lifted, diesel F250 of which Champagne could be proud?

My guess is they were going to the dog park, or he had to transport him somewhere.

There's a dad I always see in the carpool line at my kids school who drives a pretty expensive looking Mercedes, and he usually has a full size Labradoodle sitting on his lap. Like - a massive dog, usually with it's head hanging out the window or otherwise obstructing his view.

I'm waiting to one day see the car on it's side in the middle of Siegen Lane.

Same. I even got my Cupcake (70 lb pit mix) a service dog harness off ebay so she can go everywhere with me.

Definitely not shocked it was in St. Landry Parish. That place is a huge shithole. True story; My friend works in commercial real estate. He was trying to sell a tract off of I-49 to this logistics/trucking company that wanted to build an operations center there that was going to employ at least 75 people. 3 out of the 4 scouts they sent got tickets for dumb things not signaling etc. They pulled out immediately. It wouldn't be a bad place if those dipshit boomer coonass good ole boys weren't in charge of everything. I'm also involved in the economic development/real estate process and developers and employers avoid that place like the plague for the same reason.

Really? There is a law against this?
