I do it with our pets. And also, there are plenty way more important things to be irked about than something so trivial. Good grief.

My wife does it all the time with the cat she got from our sister-in-law 2 years ago. It's a male, neutered and living inside but does go out a few times a day to explore the yard.

She'll try to get him to come inside and go out on the 2nd story back porch and call him like she's having a conversation-------which he normally ignores. She'll come and get me to get the cat in and all I do is call his name once, clap my hands a couple times and he comes running inside.

I guess like most guys, he's not into long conversations.

I talk to my dogs all the time, in encouraging voice. They are listening, and they respond, in their own way.

There is a difference between talking to your pets (I think most people do) and making up voices and talking back to yourself as the pet. Yeah, that's strange.
