Outside of Cali, Alabama has arguably the most diverse topography of any state in the country. Mountains(albiet, they are small), rolling hills, plains, swamps, flatlands, wetlands, forests, beaches, rivers, lakes...
Oregon and WA are in the debate.

I can't believe we're four pages on and I'm the only person mentioning West Texas. It is, literally, a shite show.
West Texas is not a state... Texas is a big place

Alabama is an awesome state, topography wise. If they could just... Start over with new people it would be a great state.
Louisiana could be pretty nice too considering all of the resources but its shitty people fricked it all up.

Arkansas is the same way... just without the beaches. But it's full of Arkansians. Arkansasians? Hillbillies? Clintons? Waltons? Duggars?

I like the East TN, Smokies, Asheville, and Roanoke areas. You get the WV topography without the WV people.

Lots of the old money in Mississippi left a long time ago, I'm told. A lot of the people I've talked to about it say they mostly moved east; North Carolina, mostly.

And was upset I couldn't even find a Starbucks nearby. The horror.
It was when I couldn't even get coffee at the Dinner Bell and was tired and fighting a hangover. All they had was water and tea iirc.

I disagree on California
While I will agree that LA and other parts of so cal blow, Calofirnia is one of the most beautiful states in America, hands down. Majority of people there I met were super friendly. Depends on where you live there I guess

Oregon and WA win the debate. AL is better than people give it credit for (I just finished backpacking in the mountains up there), but the pacific northwest runs away with that debate.
