Greenville and Clarksdale are like driving through Mogadishu. People are still living in lean to shacks in parts of those towns, not even joking

I guess I'll go with Kansas. That said, I have ever been and I never want to go. That's gotta count for something, right?

Sounds like you've never been to Lafayette, just repeating what you read here

I don't hate the town of Lafayette itself. I just can't stand ULL fans.

West Texas

We talking like Permian Basin West Texas or Big Bend West Texas?

Midland/Odessa/Lubbock suck no doubt.

Marathon/Marfa/Apline/Terlingua/Ft Davis is actually tolerable if you're gonna take a trip out to the Park.

Western New Jersey is actually pretty nice. The Appalachian Trail runs through part of it.

Oregon and WA win the debate. AL is better than people give it credit for (I just finished backpacking in the mountains up there), but the pacific northwest runs away with that debate.

North Carolina belongs in this discussion before Alabama does.

Arkansas.

The roads are awful. The food is subpar. The people are either completely ignorant or feel like their superior to the south. Most counties are dry as hell.

I'm mostly talking about northwest Arkansas.

Lafayette is great for cajun culture, music, price of living, and the food.

New Orleans is great for most of the same reasons, different style of culture, and the music scene.

Somalians are (rightfully) offended at your comparison.
