If someone asks you where you went to college? 4 scenarios, how do you respond?

1. ULL- Undergrad LSU- MBA
2. Tulane- Undergrad LSU- MBA
3. Barry- Undergrad Tulane- MBA
4. LSU- Undergrad Dartmouth- MBA

I say I went to LSU for my undergrad and Georgia Southern for grad.

More often than not, I just say I went to LSU.

I say Arkansas, not southeastern, because I didn't need a degree so I never graduated from SLU.

LSU. It's a novelty when traveling outside of the southeast and a conversation starter anywhere.

College is your undergrad school. If you went to Harvard law and lsu undergrad yo would say I went to lsu than proceed to name drop Harvard law

Then why are many places referred to as College of Medicine? Example: Baylor College of Medicine.

I would add to the conversation that law programs are a different animal just like med schools. If you are a lawyer and someone asks where you went, they are probably referring to your law school and in a sense, that defines you anyway. The same for med school.

If it was a casual conversation and someone asked "college" I always reply with my undergrad school.

If I were in a professional environment requiring an advanced degree (JD, MD, etc) and someone asked where I went to "school" I would go with my grad school

I still agree with his definition of "college," but You are right that a quick google search shows that lots of schools use "college of medicine." If someone went to Michigan for undergrad and Ohio State College of medicine, I would have to think that they would answer with Michigan.

And as far as BCM goes, BCM and BU separated in the 60s. So if you said BCM for your college that would be really kinda odd.

I usually say I got my PhD at Georgia Tech. Then if they seem to care I'll say I did undergrad at LSU. Always lead with your biggest degree

Yeah but the question was to ask where you went to college?

If they said where did you go to "school," then I think the PHD answer would be normal.

Depending on the setting you would lead with your best foot. I have friends and acquaintances with undergrads from ETBU, NWST, Mcneese, ULM who attended grad school at Ole Miss, Tulane, Arkansas, Baylor which do you think is the lead? The nationally ranked research institutes or the regional colleges?

I wouldn't leave out my undergrad entirely and ignore it, but

1. I got my MBA from LSU
2. I got my MBA from Tulane
3. I went to Tulane for my Business degree and LSU for my MBA.
4. I got my MBA from Dartmouth.

I give the more prestigious school when I'm asked. It's not like I am ashamed of my undergrad, but if you can lead with a top tier school as opposed to a regional one why would you not?
