St George Island, Florida (job prospects might m=be minimal, though
)
Grand Junction, Colorado
Astoria, Oregon
Though the wife would not move either of the last 2 places because she cannot take the cold.

Ya I'm sure it was fine but her research of wikipedia weather charts convinced her.
Oh well, no complaints. She brings more to the marriage than I do.
1.5 years to a kid or something? That's when you start really thinking about leaving.

I'm in my mid twenties and am moving to Minneapolis in less then 2 weeks. I've been up there twice in the past 3 weeks and love it. I've heard nothing but good things about it other then COLD in the winter.

No one is coming to Iowa?

GJ ain't that bad with the cold. Up on the plateau and doesn't get the same kind of winter that the front range and high country gets.
Beautiful area, I could live there.
Oh, and we moved from La almost 29 years ago and live in Golden.

She finishes professional school in about a year, I figure we can afford to let her look for something good (job wise) for about 6 months before we start looking elsewhere.

I'll probably spend a few years in either NoVA, Chicago or NYC and settle down in Austin or Nola

Somewhere in Iowa or Vermont/New Hampshire
Not that I'd ever go to either but folks there still generally get up and go do something while they are in their prime working years.
And, they don't generally attempt to steal your shite either while you're gone away or by putting a gun in your ribs to negotiate you "sharing".
Their local economies over the past 50 years didn't incentivize not working, living in public housing, making more kids and then making a bimonthly hike to the mailbox as a long-term way of life.
Farm/agrarian values?
Too bad the culture and the weather in those places suck for me.
Sorry to politicize this thread Cuse, you asked and if I'd have offered simply my answer of "Iowa or Vermont/New Hampshire" folks might rightly have wondered why.

Pretty much anywhere along the Gulf Coast. I'm not very interested in landlocked states especially since my degree's in coastal science. I've no desire to go out west. Atlantic coast wouldn't be bad if I could avoid large cities.

Your second assumption is false sir...take a visit up there. Good Lawd! Them women work on thier bodies for 9 months out of the year to be able to show em off for 3. Well worth it.

Been to GJ a couple of times. First time I was doing work for Enterprise Products at a place called Baxter Pass. It was cold there and snowed in the spring, Of course it was high up there. Anything named whatever Pass is usually high and cold in the winter.
I could live there, my wife complains about the winters in Lafayette, so...
As much as I like GJ, I like her more
