Though the wife would not move either of the last 2 places because she cannot take the cold.

Astoria doesn't really have a cold winter.

"New York, New Orleans, and San Francisco. Everywhere else is Cleveland."

Boston and Denver are also acceptable.

Exactly where I live - Boulder

It's the greatest city in America. The home prices scare some, but I like it. Keeps the riff raff away

Baranof Island is better IMO. Sitka is an awesome town

The SO was born in kodiak and spent her childhood there, she's talked about it and told stories, etc. which got me interested. I'm sure I'd like to see Baranof too.

Not if you're use to Juneau

Wouldn't bother me, but as I explained to someone else, my wife complains about winter in Lafayette.

I will say, though, that Astoria was a great place to work for 2 weeks, the drive from Portland was magnificent.

My son may be a little put of about the high school mascot, the fighting fisherman. I can't recall if it was on the school building or a sign but they had a mural that looked kind of like a pissed off version of the guy on the Mrs. Gorton's Fish Sticks box.
