re: Spinoff: Is anyone here still opposed to marijuana legalization and if so why?

No. Any person that is ever tried and convicted as a habitual offender because of marijuana likely has an extensive criminal history involving many other crimes.
Like possession with intent to distribute, possession with weapon enhancement, and a million other "possession" scenarios that are codified as felonies? All of which involved simple possession with some other factor- all of which become legal after legalization.
Legalizing it is more than simply decriminalizing simple possession.

Thank the stars no one ever gets addicted to alcohol, and no one becomes violent after getting drunk!

Ha ha! That's as far as you were able to read into my post. I understand dude. The mind does tend to stray and lose focus when stoned. Ha ha!

And alcohol is okay? You know how many people are killed just by drunk drivers every year?

he'll just ignore this over and over, but it's ok because he quit playing football after getting high. O

Weed is literally everywhere. You can no longer hike a trail or go on a bike ride or walk to a Rockies game without getting hit in the face with weed. When it was illegal, people were a bit more discreet with it. It's open season now and to those who don't smoke or care for the smell, has become an issue.
I will divert you to a Ben Harper song lyric...

My choice is what I choose to do. And if it's causing no harm it shouldn't bother you. Your choice is who you choose to be and if you're causing no harm then you're alright with me.

When used occasionally it is completely harmless.

Are you trying to convince me that you are trying to ban alcohol but legalize marijuana? I'm going to assume just for argument's sake that you're not a liar
I deal in reality. That's the difference between me and a stoner such as yourself.
But hey, good luck with all of that

You seem to have this stereotype of the average person who uses marijuana in your mind that is very detached from reality.

Also had a good friend who got stoned out of her mind and walked in front of an 18 wheeler in Port Allen.
What's funny about this statement is if you go back and look through the news, you will find pedestrians being hit by 18 wheelers in Port Allen quite frequently.
This is an easy fix. Just make getting squished by and 18 wheeler illegal. Bam. Problem solved.

No. I'm trying to convince you that I'm trying to ban alcohol. Because my friend was killed due to alcohol. Will you join me? If not, why?

your argument is very off base. First off, your story is anecdotal, there is literally zero correlation between smoking weed and getting hit by cars. Its like me saying that I had a friend take an Adderall and get pulled over for speeding and then proclaiming that Adderall inherently makes people drive fast. Its simply not true. Just an isolated incident.
The whole "it sends a bad message to kids" argument is also very laughable. Kids are going to try it no matter what. I smoked my first joint at 14. The difference between legal and illegal is how the smoker gets the weed. Would you rather kids get weed that is regulated or go to the neighborhood junky that selling 10 other drugs and is trying to upsell you?
Im sorry you had a bad experience with weed, but your experience is just that, YOUR EXPERIENCE. It has no affect on anyone else or is it a reason to keep weed illegal.

Yes we are. I refer you to my comments about my friend who walked in front of an 18 wheeler while she was stoned.
Do you know how many people have driven in front of 18 wheelers drunk? Or on prescription medications?

I oppose it. Why?
Till there is a way to test someone on the spot it shouldn't be legal. I talking something like a breath analyzer or what ever.
Hell, I smoked it when I was a teen, but that was back in the early 1970's.
Out of the group of 10 of us that grew up together, 5 are dead,3 due to drugs.
So, is weed a gateway drug? I say yes.

I support legalization and don't use. Why do you think only stoners support legalization?
