I didn't work there in 1984 but your story is how I remember it as well. I also remember news stories about McD's taking a huge hit on the promotion!

Crazy. I don’t remember that at all and I was a freshman in high school working at McDs.

Wonder if it was a mental block or what.

Oh yeah. If you got track and field or swimming event you pretty much knew you were getting a free big mac or fries.

You could get 1 free ticket a day so we would walk up there as kids and the summer each day.

Well that was if you had an actual McDonald's around. Back then the nearest McD's was 80 miles away.

No way to get the game or the food.

Yeah, I was in high school in a small town and had to be at my summer job around 5:30 so I’d go up there and cash in my ticket for a Big Mac and buy fries for whatever they cost back then, and get another ticket (I could get soft drinks for free where I worked) and sometimes several more if I knew the girl working.

Dinner an a can of Kodiak back then would cost less than $2.

A friend of mine was dating a girl who worked at McDonalds that summer. One night just before drive thru closed we went thru. She was working the drive thru and gave us one of those white McDonald's bags full of tickets. We ate free the rest of the summer

I was a one year old at the time, and I'm only familiar with the situation because of the Simpsons.

So you're not a former VP, because you actually worked there?

I was 14 at the time.

Me and my 2 friends ate McD's free every day for 2 months.

It was epic.
