Spare tire advice.

Bought a used 2016 honda pilot. Got it home and realized it didn't have a spare tire with it. So I went online and found a seller on ebay advertising 2016-2019 Honda Pilot spare tires. Bought one. It gets here and it looks significantly smaller than the other tires. The tire and loading information decal on the car says spare should be a size T165/80D17 104M. The spare I got is size T145/70R17 106M.
Question is, can I use this spare or am I screwed?

What you need to do is buy 5 35” BFGs and remove the fender flares.

I disagree. Seven/ten split is the hardest spare to pick up.

If the rim is the same, it will work fine in a pinch. If you want something the same size as the others, go to a tire place and ask them for a used tire. Be sure it fits in the area designated to store the spare, though.

That's why you have roadside assistance. Do you have a jack and lug wrench to put it on with?

Oh yeah, if you put it on your car could go into limp mode or disable traction control and ABS.

The circumference should be the same as the rest of the tires. It seems that it might be smaller so it is probably for another Honda model or older Pilot. You could use it in an emergency but not on the front. So if you have a flat on the front you would have to move tires which is hard on the side of the road with one jack.

The one you got has a circumference about 7.5" smaller I would personally get the correct spare.

If the rim is the right size a trip to get a used tire is probably the right move.

I had my first flat in probably 15 years just before Christmas, I had the tire replaced and back on the road in about 15 minutes, it is unlikely roadside assistance would have even been there in 15 minutes.

If you are near NOLA, BR or Lafayette, go to Pull-a-Part and you may find a much less expensive replacement.
We got one for our 2001 Buick and my husband remembers it being "dirt cheap".

Roadside assistance will only give you a tow. They don't have a spare tire to put on. Good luck finding someplace to fix a flat or mount a new tire after 5-6 PM.
