GRIMES COUNTY, Texas — A month after Elon Musk and Gov. Greg Abbott officially confirmed Terafab was coming to Grimes County, the county itself and the Texas attorney general are facing a lawsuit from SpaceX (Nasdaq: SPCX).
The complaint, which SpaceX filed in Travis County on Sept. 8, names Attorney General Ken Paxton and Grimes County as defendants.
The lawsuit asks a district court judge to issue a temporary restraining order preventing Grimes County from releasing information through a public records request to Marie Egyed and Vanessa Burzynski, two residents of Grimes County. It also asks the judge to permanently block the county and the attorney general from releasing SpaceX’s confidential information, arguing that no monetary compensation can make up for the damage SpaceX would suffer.
SpaceX’s complaint centers on a pair of Texas Public Information Act requests that Egyed and Burzynski filed on behalf of the organization Grimes County Citizens for Responsible Development.

Yeah but now they know he won't pull out of the deal.

I'd be curious what the PIA request is for. I'm pretty deadset against local public officials signing NDAs with corporations. I can agree with blocking legitimately proprietary technical information from public dissemination, but more broad information such as power estimates, high level land usage details, pollution estimates, etc there is no reason to hide from the public.

Agreed, public officials should only be able to sign NDA's under very limited and strict circumstances.

OK, this is no big deal.
When public records requests are filed seeking information involving economic development projects, the law allows third parties to go to court to seal the records.
The third party has to sue the government since the government holds the records.
This is a nothing story.

So space X got an absolute race horse deal that absolutely reams tax payers. No doubt the same is being done in Louisiana

Friendly reminder that Elon has advocated for the abolishment of all intellectual property laws.

I know. Totally disagree with him on that. Such protections are one reason this country has done so well
