Returning to the launch pad for a catch would mean Starship going ORBITAL for the 1st time

Seems like the boostback burn on Booster did still have trouble... the burn cut off earlier than anticipated

Also... on the Booster landing burn... 13 engines SHOULD HAVE lit... 10 actually lit... 2 shut down almost immediately leaving it with 8 for most of the burn

What would be wild is if they could catch the booster on the tower, offload it in the time it takes for starship to orbit, then catch starship.

I doubt they attempt another booster clause catch though until the v3 raptors start to show some reliability.

They have two towers now so timing isn’t an issue

The second tower isn’t complete yet

The 2nd tower is being used now for launches

Tower 1 is being upgraded from "get it operable" standards to "we've flown some & now have an idea of what we need" standards

The Raptors on Starship are v3s too, no?

And they were flawless yesterday

My completely uninformed opinion is there's still some kinks with the hot staging/flip to work out... not with the engine itself

I was a little surprised by the revelation that the boostback burn aborted early

If they knew there was trouble shortly after the flip, that gives him a couple minutes to work with for another catch attempt. If they didn’t know until the landing burn, then I wouldn’t freak up a perfectly good pad on a maybe it’ll work.

Booster isn't coming in for a catch until it does the maneuver perfectly into the Gulf

Starship has shown it can do its maneuvers flawlessly... that's why Elon was able to put out they're planning a catch of Starship next time barring something strange popping up in the after launch data review
