Service Animals are trained to handle these situations. "Emotional Support" dogs are not.
Those might just be regular old dogs and their owners paid to bring them on board. Anyone can pay to bring their pet with them on a flight, or pay to have it flown in cargo if it's too big.

they do, plus they have to buy a full priced ticket for the dog plus have health documentation and certification from a vet for the animals as well as airline certified approved carriers for them. i have family that had traveled with cats and dogs on planes before and its unbelievably hard to comply with all the restrictions.
people on the other hand can bring any sort of transmittable disease, virus, flu, on board to infect you with

SO this woman was obviously trying to get the animals removed from the flight and it backfired on her but do I understand this correctly.
You DO have to provide documentation that your allergy won't prevent you from flying with animals, but you do NOT have to provide documentation proving you need a service animal?
As for these service animals. I said this the other day, most of the people who have them are pussies. "Oh I need a dog cuz I'm sad" sorry, even if you're a vet, you're a pussy , need a therapy dog LOL. If you're not blind you don't NEED a service animal.

For FREE! It's a total racket. On a flight from TPA to PBX and a guy in front of me had a therapy cat. Cat meowed entire flight, crawled up the guys body, jumped over his head and into my lap.

What if the support dog was that of an American Veteran who has PTSD? What if he or she had survived a back hawk crash and is deathly afraid of flying but has to fly because of a family emergency?

Pretty sure you do need to provide documentation for the animal. Its just incredibly easy to get.
And once she said she's "deathly allergic to dogs" the airline had to assume they were liable if something happened. They were covering there own arse because of what she said.

I wouldn't do it because my dog is 75 lbs and would sniff every arse on the plane, but I have friends who do it with calmer dogs that only do it because they are scared for the safety of the animal in the cargo hold. That is the only reason most of these people do it.

I have seen plenty of cats on planes in the carry crate. One time I saw a woman take it out and the Southwest attendant quickly told him to put it back in the carry bag.
