Sounds like they’re doing a “hard reset” of their entire system and it will take them all of this week to get back in schedule.

An entire week? That’s insane.

Not sure what that even means. I was on the phone with an agent at 4:30 this morning and she kept using this term. I said “wtf does this even mean” and she had no answer. It’s obvious they are just getting their talking points and have no clue what’s going on. What a nightmare of a job to just sit there and listen to people cry and complain about their week’s plans getting shattered. Brutal. I felt bad for her tbh.

I think it means they are clearing schedules and rebuilding them based on where their planes and crew are. Or maybe getting their planes and crew back to certain airports to resume schedule. Idk, but sounds like a major PITA for everyone involved.

Wondering if it means they are canceling everything and starting over based on the location of their resources right now. Then piecing it together with their normal schedule next week.

Problem that I am reading about is that they don’t know where everyone is and their availability because their employee scheduling tool is Stone Age and relies on phone calls and carrier pigeon.

400 for the rental car and we will get there quicker, think rental car is the best option.

In the Midwest heading back to LA.

Was just checking my flight stats for a Tuesday AM flight home. Saw it was cancelled and booked the last flight out Monday night. That was cancelled.

Was able to schedule a flight out tonight (12/27). Currently still set to go, but wouldn’t be surprised if it’s cancelled.

For anyone traveling on SW this week, check the app as well as flight aware or google to get updates on flight status. SW phone lines are working and I haven’t gotten any texts or emails about delays or cancellations.

Usually I would agree with this sentiment as I make that drive weekly but there are no rental cars to be found.

Lynx have your sister see if she can hop on the VonLane. She’ll have to Uber to downtown but if she can’t get a rental that’s probably her best bet.

I wonder what they consider reasonable alternative transportation. I can fly home tomorrow night for $500 pp on delta but don’t want to do that unless they reimburse.

I'm not defending southwest by any means but I didn't realize how many people are triggered by the boarding process. There is no first class so does it really matter where you sit on your 90 minute flight?

Saw that city of Houston is bussing travelers from Hobby to hotels free of charge… what a clusterfrick.

City better send SW the bill, my tax dollars don’t need to pay for SWs frick up.

Here’s the culprit. TWU local 566 Dallas put out this press release. Looks like a planned sickout strategically planned to hit SW at Christmas.

I don’t believe this has anything to do with the flight crews. Reference page 2 of the thread.

Wait until you SW loyalists start noticing the double digit wheelchair passengers on every flight who miraculously no longer need a wheelchair when they get to the boarding area. They get to board first.

Double digit pre-boards on every SW flight is a massive exaggeration but even if it was true, what difference does that make to you?

It’s not an exaggeration at all, much less a massive one, and it’s the worst in Atlanta, Baltimore, and Chicago. Every person in a wheelchair can have a person in their party accompany them during boarding. My own personal record is 21 out of Baltimore to Atlanta.

ETA: Perhaps it would be more accurate to say wheelchair passengers and their guests.

Since SW uses a cattle call boarding process, those people choose their own seats. It doesn’t make a difference to me, because I fly for free, but it definitely makes a difference to the people who paid for priority boarding to be up front and end up many rows back because of Jet Bridge miracles.
