Yep, I love that drive from NO East to BSL. I still remember the first time I found that route. What a nice drive.

I think the restaurant may want to rethink how they display the flag.
I don’t.

Although I think that most people that are “offended” are usually people seeking out attention, I think the restaurant may want to rethink how they display the flag. Maybe hanging it on a wall sends the wrong message and in today’s climate, you should probably have expected this. You’re going to run off customers for what? Principle of ‘Murica?
If it’s a nice piece of memorabilia, display it a different way. In a case, with a placard or something explaining what it is and why it’s there. Hanging it on the wall most definitely isn’t the correct way to go about doing it.
If you look at the picture you can see what appears to be a small plaque on the bottom of the flag. I can’t say for sure, but I’d bet my last dollar that it says something along the lines of “this flag was captured by so-n-so US Army unit on so-in-so date in 1944-45 during so-in-so battle”.

Apparently the discussion on the post explains that there are WW2 memorabilia on the wall and not just a nazi flag.
Owner is a Marine and has tons of war memorabilia on the walls...

A place that has good food, atmosphere and most importantly beer! Less Karens the better!

Guess it depends on what was painted in the parking lot.

For some historic context to our resident Karens, displaying captured enemy standards or flags as trophies of war is commonly done around the world. At the end of WWII the Soviets went so far as to parade Nazi standards through Red Square.
And if you go into your local American Legion Hall, odds are pretty high you’ll see a Nazi, Japanese, or North Vietnamese flag displayed on the wall somewhere.

Maybe that's the problem...today's climate. If this restaurant has had this display up for years and only now there is an issue, I'd prefer the owner not kowtow to the person who, in today's climate, suddenly has an issue with it and remain true to his own beliefs. Unless you're advocating for the correctness of "today's climate" than it would seem most would support the owner's decision and encourage him to leave it be. Removing it emboldens people like this woman.

The owner is very pro military. He is a former Marine with memorabilia all over the restaurant. The food is also very good. They have a very large menu, anyone can find something to eat at Southside.

I doubt she was offended. It just seemed like a good idea to act offended when she was trying to achieve fake victimhood.
So close, yet, so far.

Jesus, the contents on that post on Facebook are sad. So many stupid people.
One person came in to explain why the flag was there and got shite on by everyone.

So instead of going inside and maybe asking about it, she decides to post to Facebook in hopes of becoming internet famous.

That place won’t be cancelled. These Karen’s and virtue signalers will just make the line there on Saturday night a two hour wait instead of the usual one hour.

There is WW2 memorabilia all over the place there. It is one of the few places I actually like going to when I visit family in Slidell
Posted on 10/24/20 at 9:54 am to BeeFense5
It is always packed during lunch.
The stuff has been there for years and has not offended anyone.
The guy is a Marine and the place is full of military historical items or items saluting our military.
This seems like someone who just wants to start crap.
I know where I am eating on Veterans Day.

Food there is great. I work in Slidell and will make it a point to go eat there more often.
