TBF, i would never hang a fricking Nazi flag in a restaurant and be like CONTEXT. It aint a museum and thats....a little odd....no? Like its important to learn about gulags, and pogroms, and the Holocaust, but not over brunch, huh?
If the owner was a doctor and had human skulls and organs in jars and pictures and diagrams of the human body during surgery all over the walls of an unrelated RESTAURANT i would question that persons judgement as well
But also TBF, if it has some plaque about who captured it and whatnot id probably sit there and eat my country breakfast with a sense of pride as i thought about my badass fricking country.

Goose-step when you go in

After looking at this on Facebook, I’m about 99.9% sure I took my family in there to eat back in 2017 and it was freaking amazing.

If you look at the picture you can see what appears to be a small plaque on the bottom of the flag. I can’t say for sure, but I’d bet my last dollar that it says something along the lines of “this flag was captured by so-n-so US Army unit on so-in-so date in 1944-45 during so-in-so battle”.
It does. I sat at the table directly in front of that display last week.

I’m as anti PC as anyone but it seems bizarre.

She should just burn the place down. They will appreciate the insurance money

I used to live around the corner from Southside Cafe' and it had excellent food and atmosphere. I'm glad it has survived Katrina and our gov't shutdowns

I figured as much. That flag is a piece of history, not history glorifying Nazi Germany, but history of us stomping Nazi Germany’s arse.

It only seems bizarre in the context of that retard’s Facebook post. I’m sure if you went in there it would make sense.

Right...Me too.
But context goes both ways. I think you should be able to talk about the crime rates in the black community without being called a racist, but i wouldnt whisper them to a woman during sex. Or blurt them out during church.

What would be your reaction if you walked in the restaurant and noticed this flag and the caption below it detailing how it was captured by American troops in WWII?

Yep. Anyone who knows Dan or has been to Southside knows that he is a patriotic man and a proud Marine.

Literally a part of my initial post. Go read it there.

I miss the America that existed before last week where tolerance for a person’s eccentricities was the norm. Before we became this Progressive SCOLD Culture where the worst is assumed, the punishment handed out and no exceptions are allowed. It’s very SOVIET.

That's what is so great about this country. He can decorate it any way he wants, and you have the option to give him business or go eat elsewhere.

I mean not really. No matter how much my restaurant focuses on memorabilia, the one thing I’m probably not going to hang up under and circumstances is a Nazi flag. The downside of that outweighs any potential benefits.

So you’d be offended because it’s not in a museum but instead is in restaurant. Ok. Let’s unpack that for a moment.
1. The flag is the flag no matter where it’s displayed.
2. The plaque on the flag clearly spells out the flag is a trophy of war captured on the battlefield by American troops.
So when you see this display you have two choices.
1. Take it out of context and get offended by it because you choose to believe it glorifies Nazis.
2. Use logic and reason to understand the display does not glorify Nazis but rather glorifies the bravery and sacrifice of millions of American troops who fought to crush the evil Nazi state that flag stood for.
The conclusion is if that flag display offends you this indicates you are unable to use logic and reason and instead are driven by your emotions.
