There's some talk NOAA wants to restructure and have the SPC issue warnings and take that away from FOs to make warnings issuance uniform across the board. Some FOs suck, some are really good. SPC issuing those localized MDs could be step 1 of giving them more control over warnings.

Because frick fixing the problem. Let's just use a big old brush and paint over the issue. That's dumb as hell.

I hope this never happens. NWS Birmingham is awesome at handling warnings. We don’t need someone in Norman, OK handling warnings for here.

Just like with government, making it more centralized never improves anything

The same can be said for most offices. Some have issues, and those issues are amplified more than ever now with social media and radar apps on everyone's phone. There's something to be said for well-stated expectations and doing what needs to be done to see those expectations are met. Doing this wouldn't fix the problem.

1.5 inch hail reported just to the west of here.. ping pong ball size. Would have liked to see that but my vehicle is ok with not seeing that.

Two active tornado watches and multiple tornado & severe thunderstorm warnings, and The Weather Channel is airing shows about towing and recovery of 18 wheelers in snow.

Your mistake there was thinking they were still actually interested in covering weather.
