We're going to have to see that warm front just offshore lift North to maximize the severe threat over SE LA ahead of the front.

It has made some progress, but so far has stayed offshore. You can see it on surface obs, and it is what has goosed the storms over around Houston a bit this afternoon.

Winds are still slowly shifting to a more southerly flow and should pick up some with the LLJ increasing a bit into the evening.

NWS is really slow. There's been a Sabine Parish severe thunderstorm warning but it still has not hit their SHV website.

ETA: I could pull it up indirectly, but nothing was on the warning box (in fact, it still showed a tornado warning that was allowed to expire).

So does sun right now in BR mean we are getting a warmer atmosphere to set up some fireworks later on or is the area generally in the clear?

Tornado warning south of Convent. Pretty good inflow that looks like it has a shot to put one down.

It doesn’t even look like a tornado on radar. I’m not seeing any reports from the ground.

Any severe weather is likely still to come. The first batch was not the main concern. Straight line winds are still the biggest issue as the front moves in around 8-10p, with possible discrete storms ahead of that.

If the first batch wasn’t the main concern, why did the schools close and so on at noon???
