The Feliciana's are the same way. Both West and East Feliciana are heavily Protestant while Point Coupee is Catholic right across the river.

I've met some supposedly "religious" folks from that parish and when I mention them that Im catholic, they have something smart to say about it.

Catholicism is very inaccurate Biblically (not an opinion).
It is very hard to see how they got their "religion" from the Holy Bible.
I'm from LP, but not Catholic.
Oh, and the Pope Francis is an idiot.

It was a lawless border area. Same with the LA-TX border. Sabine Parish was dueling banjos country up until they built Toledo Bend.

LP was originally settled by convicts that were released during the war of Northern Aggression.
Florida Parish history site. cool reads.

Nah. Seen prayer work too many times for it to be coincidence.
You may look like you came from amoeba, but I certainly do not.
Btw, why come into a religious conversation if you're a non believer?
That would be as ridiculous as me going to a gay parade, while I'm against homosexuality. Which is why I wouldn't go.

the insecurity that Baptists and Pentecostals have in regards to Catholics
I grew up Pentecostal, they don't believe Catholicism is even Christian. Many of them do so not even knowing any basic facts about it. It's all part of the overriding "my religion is the only true religion" attitude among the overall Evangelical movement.

Not Biblical?
You mean according to the Holy Bible that the Catholic Church compiled or the one that a corrupt King rewrote and abridged for Protestants?

My fiance is Catholic, and I think she is a Christian. It's just hearing her beliefs and knowing the Bible, some of it is bad doctrine.

You obviously don't know the history of the Bible. Many religious leaders got together years ago protestant and Catholic and came to some agreements some disagreements. Disagreements being the 4 books the Catholic Bible has that other Bibles do not.
Second, theologians were hired by King James to translate the Bible. The theory that he messed with the translation is ridiculous at best. He didn't translate a single word.
The people who translated the Bible were very strict, I could keep going but you should read about what all they did while translating the Bible.
I'm done debating this issue, I don't dislike Catholics at all. I just disagree with some of their beliefs. LINK LINK

Protestants in Louisiana are more rednecky (LP) whereas Catholics are more coonassy (Acadiana area). Basically the difference between people of French and Italian descent, versus English (rednecks).

Yes based on your post I can tell you are. Not going to delve any deeper into this matter or your statements, as it's not allowed on this board..

The funny thing is, if it weren't for Catholics, Protestants wouldn't even exist.
Even funnier is that neither would exist without the Jews, but they're still all going to burn in hell, amirite?

When Louisiana was first being settled by Europeans in the late 1600s and early 1700s, the land east of the mississippi river and north of Bayou Manchac belonged to Spainish Florida, but few settlements west of Mobile were really established. The French tended to settle along the rivers in compact towns.
After the French and Indian War, the British took control of Florida and the Spanish got Louisiana. The British built several forts, including one in what is now Baton rouge. Also, the exiled Acadians came from Nova Scotia to settle the land that wasn't already taken along Bayous Lafouche, Teche, ect.
After the American Revolution, Spain took back Florida, but still didn't send many settlers to the Western portion near Louisiana.
Spain tendered Louisiana to France in a landswap in 1802 before France sold it to the U.S in 1803, but Florida remained part of Spain.
Around this time, American settlers moving west in search of more land for cotton cultivation began pouring into relatively unsettled West Florida. Then, in 1810, the english speaking settlers revolted against the Spanish, establishing the Republic of West Florida with its capital in St. Francisville.
They joined the United States and were incorporated into Louisiana when it applied for statehood in 1812.
The rest of Florida was ceded to the U.S. by Spain overtime as the Spanish realized that it's value relative to what it would cost to defend it from the Americans who wanted it just wasn't worth a fight with Andrew Jackson.
Basically, LP is mostly north and east of Bayou Manchac and the Mississippi so it was not settled by the Catholic French and Spaniards. It was settled by english and later Americans.
