State sanctioned executions is a slippery slope.

Ad hoc executions are much better.

ETA: I think it's customary for at least one of the firing squad shooters to be firing a gun loaded with a blank cartridge

Usually they split the squad. If its say, six guys, , then three would be given live rounds and three given duds. No one but the dispersing officer knows who got what. In military firing squads, its a commissioned officer that hands out the rounds to enlisted men.

firing squad should totally be the standard method for this. Tie them to a poll , blindfold them, and give them or cigarette (or elf bar).

I'm sensing a lot of soy from you. Not an amount that isn't manageable, but you need to address it.

You write as if its a contradiction. Its not. Babies are innocent and helpless and deserve protection from harm. Grown men that choose evil are not.

Some info from ABC about how the deed will be done:

“It will be three people holding rifles about 15 feet (4.6 meters) away who will complete his punishment in what will be the United States’ first firing squad execution in 15 years.

Some 46 prisoners have been executed by lethal injection and electrocution in South Carolina since 1985. Brad Sigmon's execution will be the first by firing squad. Just three inmates - in Utah in 1977, 1996 and 2010 - have faced a firing squad in the U.S. since the death penalty was reinstated in 1976.”

Should be 6 shooters with 3 rifles loaded with blanks.

I think he picked to be executed this way. I don't understand why they don't do this for all of them. Its cheaper, you don't have to worry about issues about what can and can't be put in an injection. Its sudden. Its better than watching someone fry in an electric chair, its pretty much the best possible way to do it.

He chose that method over electric chair or lethal injection.

Hopefully they staff the squad with a bunch of people who failed their marksmanship test. Shoot that fricker in the nuts 12 times first.

It’s about time that gets back to the way it should be.

Each execution is meant to kill someone. Stop sugar coating the execution
