Exact same for me. I HATE live music in a bar most times. It's either a shitty cover band playing songs that make me want to rip my hair out due to being overdone.. or it's someone singing their own music which I don't know or care about.
However, I love going see a favorite band in a nice venue. Not a big stadium concert (my favorites can't sell out arenas anyway), but something like the Varsity or HOB.

And either way, more times than not, the place they are playing in has shitty acoustics so after the first two or three songs, you want to bust the frick out of every speaker in the place.

This. I could not give two fricks about live music. Never been to a concert. Have no desire to go to a concert. Not a fan of live bands at bars because sitting around just listening to music is not a fun way to socialize to me and then you can't hear anybody talk.
I like music as providing some color in the background or I'll listen to it solitary. Standing in a crowd just listening to music has never had any appeal to me whatsoever.
