Sounds like you need either a pistol or my personal favorite the trusty 12ga.

What do you have that others don't. Do you have a bunch of nice electronics that others know about or are others going through this to?

If you have two dogs but one is dead, then you really only have one dog.

You should just go Kevin McCallister all over your house and set up booby traps. It worked for him and he was only like 8 years old. I'm sure you can have even better success.

Or motion sensor flood lights and an alarm system. Either would be a wise decision.

I did call the cops and asked them to do a drive by. I have my great grandfathers shotgun in the house but the thing probably hasn't been fired in 70 years. I also have my father's 30 30 but again it hasn't been fired in decades. I wouldn't trust either one of them.

Your post doesn't make sense. If you aren't lying report it to the cops and go buy a shotgun. There is nothing better for home defense. Also load it up with 7 and a halfs. Across the room these will still tear somebody up but won't go through walls and mess up more property than you have to.

I'm not sure if anyone else in the neighborhood is having problems. I know about 15 years ago the whole town was being burglarized and I don't think the cops ever caught those guys. Several of the homes on my street and a car were broken into back then.

Your security is 2nd to your syntax. Your thread title reads as if someone tried to break into your home TWICE in one night.

Fix both promptly or I may return to your home and then this thread to report your dismemberment.

Apparently proper grammar and ambiguous sentence structure are taken a little more seriously than I thought. Good to know.

I had two dogs the first time they tried to break in. Also, the other dog just died recently so I doubt most people in town know he's gone.

What about the one dog you have left? How didn't he hear this before you? Serious question, not trying to be funny, and if so, did he bark?

Drill some screws through a 12"x12" piece of plywood, toss it on the ground below the screen, and cover it with a little dirt and leaves. Screws will do more damage to a foot than nails. It's critical to do what you can to make the board look like it ended up there randomly as part of an old home repair project and not an intentional booby trap.

Smash some glass in a bucket. Pour glue on the base of the window and then sprinkle the glass on the glue.

Take a wooden crate or something that could be used as a stool and modify it to collapse when someone puts weight on it. The stool should be rigged so the foot falls into a bed of nails. Again, it's critical to make it look like some random piece of yard debris and not a deliberate trap.

Pistol grip 12 guage. If the potential intruder hears that pump action and still comes in, he deserves what he gets.
