I woke up to a scratching sound coming from my bathroom at about 3 am. I figured my cat had somehow managed to get out of the utility room and into my bathroom. I get up and go in my bathroom and the sound was obviously coming from outside. My first thought was not this shite again.

So I went and turned the back and front porch lights on and found my baseball bat and a working flashlight. I went out to that side of the house and sure enough one of the screens was torn.

So this is the second time in 2 years this has happened. The first time around I was woken by the sound of footsteps through leaves and when I turned the lights on outside I heard them walk away quickly through the same leaves. I called the cops that time and they sent out a 5 foot tall woman who obviously too scared to even go over there and look. We talked out in my driveway for a while and she left after shining the light from her squad car on the side of my house. Well I went over there after she left and one of the screens frames was bent up like 2 or 3 inches. It was pretty obvious someone was trying to pry it off with a screwdriver.

Anyways, this is the second time this has happened and its really starting to worry me. I have two very large dogs who love to bark, one of them actually passed away recently so I'm down to one now, and I live in a small town so everyone knows I have those dogs. I figure who ever this is trying to break in is either a: completely insane and or drugged out of their mind or b: must be from out of town. I mean I just don't know who would try and break into a home with two big dogs living in it.

I think I'm gonna go look at some handguns today because I don't feel safe. I have no idea whether this person trying to break in is armed or not. It's one thing if they have something like a knife because I have a bat, but if they have a gun I'd be screwed.

No wonder someone is trying to break into your house. You are a male who owns a cat. They know you're a soft target.

To hell with a handgun. Get a shotgun. Maybe also an alarm system. When it comes to protecting yourself and family, why take any chances?

Your post doesn't make sense. If you aren't lying report it to the cops and go buy a shotgun. There is nothing better for home defense. Also load it up with 7 and a halfs. Across the room these will still tear somebody up but won't go through walls and mess up more property than you have to.

Set a bear trap by that window then once you have it captured, drag it inside your house

Sounds like you're out in the middle of nowhere. Have you considered the possibility of extraterrestrial beings?

So your plan was to essentially go hand to hand with a potentially drugged out home invader? Yeah nothing could go wrong there.

You cant call yourself a man if you don't have a gun. This is America not some milquetoast country

Move the hell out Brian.

Or

I'd get a 12 gauge pump. Put some buckshot in it.

You wont have to have too good of aim to put some lead in someone's arse end.

That's pretty creepy man.

You said you have a big dog and recently lost another. A German shepherd may be a nice pal for your other dog. That will squash any intruder damn quickly

And CLIPS.... lots of CLIPS. Those CLIPS that hold like 150 rounds each... high capacity CLIPS.
